The Main House, Log Cabin and Grounds

A National Historic Register site in Zebulon, NC, Bennett Bunn Plantation is a remarkably intact collection of ca. 1780-1830’s outbuildings clustered around a ca. 1780 log cabin and an 1833 two-story Federal style main house.

A short walk from the main house past picturesque tobacco barns and shelters is the Lodge, a rustic stone, pine, cypress & cedar timber frame retreat nestled in a copse of oak, poplar and pine — and a destination perfect for a wedding.

Boardwalk Gazebo on Catfish Pond

Down the hill from the rustic Lodge is the Boardwalk Gazebo on Catfish Pond, a favorite site for wedding ceremonies, dance parties or just lounging and enjoying the landscape. Enjoy the country views of Zebulon on your stroll out to the gazebo boardwalk.

Of all the sites and landmarks on Bennett Bunn’s historic grounds, perhaps nothing screams “rustic” quite as much as our Tobacco Barn, pictured below. It’s just one of the many buildings dotting our grounds that give Bennett Bunn such a distinction among similar destinations in the Raleigh area.

Antiques, Pottery and Art

Antique aficionados near Zebulon, NC? The Main House, Log Cabin and Lodge at Bennett Bunn are fully furnished with period American antique furniture and decorated with early pottery, toys, art and historical artifacts. Almost all of the furniture, pottery and art are southern, with much of it from central and eastern North Carolina.

A favorite pastime of visitors to Zebulon’s Bennett Bunn is to wander the historic grounds to visit the latest arrivals, from foals and chicks in the spring to honey bees to stray animals that seem to wander in and find a home on the farm.
