Scheduling an Event

  • To reserve your date, complete and sign the Bennett Bunn Plantation Event Contract; read, complete and sign the Bennett Bunn Plantation Facility Guidelines; and leave your non-refundable deposit. (The deposit will be determined at booking and will b e applied to the final bill.)
  • To continue to reserve your date, pay the outstanding balance due 30 days prior to the event and submit a $500 refundable damage/clean-up security deposit.
  • Please note that rental times include time for set-up, the actual event, take-down and cleanup. Additional fees apply when time limits are exceeded.
  • Please note also that tent setup and take down is a time-consuming process. On weekends when two events are booked and a tent cannot be set up or taken down before the next event, the renter who confirms his/her booking first will determine the loca tion and availability of a tent.

Property Restrictions

  • Bennett Bunn Plantation is a historic site with irreplaceable antiques, collectibles, and features. The renter is liable for any breakage or damage to Bennett Bunn Plantation caused by the renter, his/her employees, agents, or guests. Bennett Bunn representatives will provide you with an inventory of antiques, accessories, and collectibles at contract signing. Many of these antiques and collectibles are available for purchase. The renter will purchase any broken or damaged item at the price liste d on the inventory sheet.
  • You must obtain prior approval before moving any collectible, accessories, or furniture in the house.
  • You may not hang anything on the walls, windows, doors, woodwork, or fixtures.
  • Dripless candles may be used inside the house during the event only and must be monitored constantly.
  • Dancing is limited to outdoor venues.
  • Children are not allowed on the upstairs balcony of the main house.
  • The back stairwell of the main house is to be used to access the second floor. Do not use the interior stairwell.
  • No renters or guests may visit the second floor of the cottage. The floor is weak with age (ca. 1780) and cannot support a weight of more than 150 pounds.
  • Do not throw anything into the ponds.
  • Swimming and boating are prohibited.

Property Information

  • The main house, outbuildings, and grounds of Bennett Bunn Plantation are for the enjoyment of renters and their guests. We encourage you to explore responsibly.
  • Renters should arrange for a lifeguard to be on duty during all events.
  • An EMS unit is on call during all events.
  • Measurements:
    • The dining room table measures (TBA)
    • The kitchen table measures (TBA)
    • The deck measures (TBA)
    • The tent area measures (TBA)
  • For all non-overnight contracted events, the main house and grounds will close from 12:00 midnight until 8:00 a.m.
  • Birdseed and flower petals are preferred over rice and confetti. Although the latter two are not prohibited, they must be cleaned up entirely.

Parking

  • Enter the main driveway and follow directional signs to park behind the main house. There is space for approximately XX vehicles.
  • Mass transit for large events is recommended.

Music

  • Vocalists, background music, harpists, violinists, and other forms of quiet music are permitted inside the main house.
  • Bands, DJs and other forms of loud music are permitted outdoors.
  • All outdoor music must stop by 11:00 p.m.
  • The Bennett Bunn Plantation onsite event coordinator has the authority to regulate the volume of the music.
  • If a renter wishes to contract with a musician, band, DJ, etc. who does not appear on Bennett Bunn Plantationís approved list, the renter must obtain prior approval and list the approved musician, etc. on the renterís contract.

Alcoholic Beverages

  • Renters are solely responsible for monitoring the consumption of alcoholic beverages by all event attendees with the exception of Bennett Bunn Plantation personnel.
  • All alcoholic beverages must be served by a bartender, usually employed by the caterer.
  • Appropriate alcoholic beverage permits must be obtained by the renter and be available for inspection during the event.

Smoking Policy

  • No smoking is permitted inside any of the buildings.
  • No smoking is permitted inside any tent.
  • Smoking is permitted outside only. All cigarette butts must be discarded appropriately. Clean-up includes the removal of all cigarette butts.

Equipment and Supplies

  • Please bring everything you will need to setup, decorate, etc. Bennett Bunn does not provide scissors, tape, extension cords, staplers, paper clips, or any other items of this nature in connection with an event.

General Conduct and Behavior of Renter and Renter’s Guests

  • Bennett Bunn Plantation is a state and national treasure and should be treated with respect at all times by renters and their guests.
  • Renters are responsible for the conduct of their guests.
  • Renters and their guests must abide by all federal and state laws, city ordinances, and these Facility Guidelines at all times.
